Lists

One way that genealogists share information is through lists, discussions centered on a particular topic that take place via e-mail.

Discussion lists are available for most of Michigan's counties as well as on several topics, such as African-American research in Michigan or Irish genealogy in Michigan.

In order to participate in a list's discussion, you must subscribe to the list. Then you will begin to receive a copy of every e-mail sent to the list. When you respond to the list, a copy of your message will be sent to every subscriber on the list. Some lists have more "traffic" -- messages per day -- than others.

To see if a list exists for your area of interest, check out the Michigan Mailing Lists links below.
