Michigan Historical Collections

The Pioneer Society of the State of Michigan published their proceedings and other historical material in a series of 40 volumes between 1877 and 1929. Volumes are called Michigan Pioneer Collections or Michigan Pioneer and Historical Collections and are commonly known as Michigan Historical Collections. MHC contains much information about the settlement of Michigan and includes biographic sketches, genealogies, and obituaries of Michigan pioneers. MHC is available in many libraries with collections of Michigan genealogical or historical materials. Some volumes or excerpts from volumes also are available online, including nine volumes that are part of the Pioneering the Upper Midwest collection.
