Museums

Through collections of artifacts, museums show what life was like for people in the past.

The largest museum in the Michigan Historical Museum System is the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing, Michigan. Its three floors of exhibits trace Michigan's history from pre-European settlement to the 20th century.

Nine other museums in the Michigan Historical Museum System include:

• Father Marquette National Memorial in St. Ignace
• Fayette Historic Townsite in Garden
• Fort Wilkins Historic Complex in Copper Harbor
• Hartwick Pines Logging Museum in Grayling
• Mann House in Concord
• Michigan Iron Industry Museum in Negaunee
• Sanilac Petroglyphs in Bad Axe
• Walker Tavern Cambridge in Junction/Brooklyn
