Organizations
Genealogical
and historical societies can be rich sources of information and help.
Some offer to answer queries or to do research (generally for a small
fee or donation), while others maintain an archives, a museum, or other
collection. Some societies publish newsletters, quarterly journals,
or books. And best of all, most do not require you to be a member to
make use of their resources. MIGenWeb, Michigan Genealogy on the Web,
is an organization of volunteers dedicated to putting genealogical source
materials on the Web.
