Periodicals

Periodicals, particularly those published by genealogical or historical societies, often have transcribed records, family histories, and other valuable information for genealogists. Useful periodicals for Michigan research include:

  • Michigan History, published from 1917 to present.
  • The Detroit Society for Genealogical Research Magazine, published since 1937, by the Detroit Society for Genealogical Research.
  • Michigan Heritage, a quarterly, published from 1959 to 1973 by the Kalamazoo Valley Genealogical Society.
  • The Flint Genealogical Quarterly, published by the Flint Genealogical Society from 1959 to 1983.
