Interview setting

To put your interview subject at ease, make sure the interview setting is comfortable and familiar. Minimize distractions, such as phone calls and other visitors. But try not to be so formal as to inhibit the free flow of conversation. Sometimes it's helpful to suggest a shared activity, such as sewing or baking, to put the interview subject at ease. Reminiscing over old photos or letters also can jog the memory. Look for natural settings for interviews, such as birthday or holiday celebrations or other family gatherings.
